Picosecond Tattoo Removal

Picosecond lasers are considered the "gold-standard" by experts worldwide. The technological advancements that came with the development of these lasers meant less treatments, reduced chances of scarring and better clearance of any tattoo colour. These lasers operate at one trillionth of a second and have a pulse width 100 times faster than the older Q-switched lasers. Essentially this means the ink particles are shattered into smaller particles making it easier for your body to remove them. Less photothermal action is present which also helps avoid more severe skin responses and damage to tissue. The laser is responsible for the breakdown of pigment and then your body will gradually clear these shattered ink particles through natural immune processes.

 

An individual treatment plan will be developed for you based on the tattoo you would like removed (age, colour, location) and with careful consideration of your skin's reaction to the laser and how well you heal after each session. Our priority is to make sure no unnecessary trauma is done to the skin and that we avoid scarring. we suggest a period of 6-8 weeks between sessions.

With picosecond lasers 6-8 sessions are needed on average, compared to 12-20 with older technologies.

As a rough guide a small tattoo (A6) will cost R600-1000 per removal session, a medium tattoo (A5) R1500-R2000 and a large piece (A4) R2500-R4000. This is a pricey procedure, and you may be tempted to price shop. Please just keep in mind that this is a highly technical service and a technician with limited knowledge or inferior equipment may leave you scarred or without any noticeable results after your sessions.
